WebCast Firewall Support

Here are the appropriate firewall rules for Windows Media streaming. **Note that we use protocol rollover which will deliver the appropriate protocol based upon the client?s network accessibility. The order it will try is RTSP, UDP, TCP, HTTP. I would recommend making sure the rules are in place for RTSP and TCP, especially the outbound traffic considering how their firewall is reacting to it.

Server to Client Behind a Firewall
A firewall configuration that allows users with Windows Media Player behind a firewall to access Windows Media servers outside the firewall is:

Streaming with RTSP
In: UDP on port 5005
Out: UDP on port 5004
In/Out : TCP on port 554

Streaming with UDP
In: UDP on port 1755
Out: TCP on port 1755
Out: UDP between port 1024 5000 (Only open the necessary number of ports.)

Streaming with TCP
In/Out: TCP on port 1755

Streaming with HTTP
In/Out: TCP on port 80
